Job Description:

This position will support and implement programs in the areas of environmental compliance, safety, security, as well as manage and maintain the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of equipment, buildings, and operations in the facility. This involves oversight of maintenance engineers, technicians, suppliers and contractors on a daily basis in order to ensure the efficient and effective maintenance and facility operations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and measure the facilities’ equipment reliability and performance including managing corrective, project, and preventive maintenance activities
  • Responsible for the management and supervision of the facilities maintenance and general maintenance work force
  • Evaluate machine repair and overhaul weighing cost into decision to proceed; prepare cost estimate and receive approval beyond a prescribed cost level
  • Ensure all safety procedures are in place prior to work start: including Lockout/Tagout, securing of the physical area, and that proper PPE is utilized
  • Assist in the development of yearly maintenance budget with management
  • Assist in make/buy decisions with respect to equipment repair tasks (as needed)
  • Utilize and maintain working relationships with outside suppliers as needed to support various types of equipment repairs
  • Supervise and coordinate all activates of employees assigned to the maintenance department(s) activities 
  • Communicate with leaders and members of the department by continually updating them on all information affecting the efficient and safe operations within the department 
  • Supervise machine repairs through delegation (and/or hands on work when necessary)
  • Coordinate and assist in the installation of equipment, both new and used, in terms of connection of pumps, valves, hydraulics, electrical systems
  • Read mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints as required to diagnose equipment problems as needed
  • As necessary evaluate machine components in comparison to specification using precision measuring instruments, also perform balancing and / or alignments as required
  • Liaise with all supporting departments to resolve problems
  • Supervise the department in a manner that promotes high morale, teamwork, pride, productivity and quality
  • Accurately and promptly complete all paperwork associated with the position (corrective actions, scrap reports, production reports, downtime, employee evaluations, etc.)
  • In coordination with Management, implement process improvements
  • Ensure that job performance issues are resolved fairly in accordance with the Employee Handbook with assistance of Human Resource Department
  • Maintain, working with site management the skills matrices of all operations personnel
  • Participate and work with all maintenance department employees and developing their goals and objectives, succession planning, and cross training initiatives in the shop
  • Other duties may be assigned 

Requirements:

  • Combination of High School Diploma or equivalent AND at least one of the following: 5+ years of relevant machine maintenance experience, 5+ years of project management experience, 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Understanding of tooling, programming, and set-ups of machinery
  • Must be proficient in advanced mathematics, and geometry
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US person; documentation required
  • Must have full command of English language and the ability to communicate verbally and in written form in English
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of personnel within the company
  • Must have the flexibility to work through completion of time critical projects as necessary
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, Word, and Windows Explorer, etc.
  • Must be proficient in analyzing information, problem solving, and teamwork
  • MTT is a safety sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment FAA drug screening will be required.
  • Supervisory or Management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment 
  • Insights communications training or equivalent (may require corporate training provided)
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma) techniques required
  • Must be able to wear half-face and full-face respirators, when required
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and operate company truck


Preferred :

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and move throughout the facility. Will use hands, frequent stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, crouching, stooping, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. Work with hand tools and power tools and some heavy lifting is required. Work in manufacturing environment and use of computer (typical 2-button scroll mouse and keyboard - 20% of the work day). The employee must frequently lift/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment may be loud. Must be able to use required PPE.
