Job Description

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Performs company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, and maintenance of natural gas distribution facilities. Handles customer requests and represents the Company in the community.

Please Note:  We are seeking someone who lives within a 35-mile radius of Jefferson Davis Parish (Jennings, Lake Arthur, Welsh city area) to service our customers in those areas. This position will have up at least 50%-75% travel daily to our customer locations within our Louisiana work territory. There will be no "out of business area" travel. A company vehicle will be provided. This position also commutes to work from their home address. Meaning when you leave home to head to work, you report to the first order of the day. Our nearest work office location is in Crowley, LA area.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Initiates gas service and perform leak investigations and repairs.
  • Locates gas lines.
  • Reads gas meters.
  • Conducts load surveys.
  • Completes work orders in system for documentation.
  • Serves as First Responder in emergency situations.
  • Conducts Cathodic Protection system monitoring activities.
  • Conducts odorization activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Requires a high school education or GED.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Requires no prior related work experience.
  • Having plumbing or mechanical experience is a plus

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • Preferred:  Must reside within 45 road miles of the reporting location. Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach, climb stairs and ladders, and crawl in confined spaces such as attics or crawl spaces.
  • Able to exert routine physical effort on a regular basis.
  • Able to use a variety of hand and/or power tools.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.

  • Able to certify and wear personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs daily.
  • Able to handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasion.
  • Able to respond to callouts and occasionally return to work while off duty.
  • Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT safety sensitive positions.
  • May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
