BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the area Director, conducts grant-related research, composes grant proposals; and develops budgets for grant-, contract-, and District-funded projects.

EDUCATION:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a reasonably related field is required. A master's degree in a reasonably related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
At least two years of experience directly related to developing and writing grant proposals (including budget development) for an educational institution is required.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Project management skills; federal, state and foundational funding sources; methodologies for researching available funding opportunities and data supporting projects; emphases and trends in funding; grant writing principles; evaluation design; math and writing skills (English composition, grammar and syntax); commonly used word processing and electronic spreadsheet software programs.

ABILITY TO:
Understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions; work effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, and representatives from outside organizations; manage multiple priorities and work with short deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1. Prepares and writes grant proposals.
2. Edits and proofreads drafts; revises to fit grant proposal guidelines and presents compelling project ideas.
3. Independently leads and facilitates the process for faculty and staff to develop program components for grant proposals.
4. Researches grant funding opportunities through grant databases (IRIS, eCivis, NSF Fastlane, foundations, etc.)
5. Through continued study and research, maintains an understanding of current ideas, research and practices pertaining to the areas of responsibility for this position.
6. Develops strategies to link college priorities to funding opportunity guidelines and requirements.
7. Informs supervisor(s), faculty, staff and institutional partners of grant funding opportunities.
8. Completes, uploads, submits and/or checks status of documents on electronic databases, such as grants.gov and NSF's Fastlane.
9. Seeks new sources and resources for information and funding.
10. Confers with faculty and staff about issues pertinent to current and upcoming grant programs.
11. Attends and/or conducts informational presentations and/or meetings.
12. Coordinate processes and activities involved in preparing a proposal for submission, noting education and timing issues (coordination with other units, departments, etc.)
13. Communicates with RCCD faculty and staff, institutional partners and funding agency contacts as needed.
14. Establishes/maintains timelines and coordinates/completes all necessary activities for completion by submission deadlines.
15. Prepares forms required for RCCD processes; composes letters for proposals; copies handouts and prepares materials for meetings.
16. Participates in District-provided in-service training programs.
17. Maintains a friendly, supportive atmosphere for students, staff, faculty, and the public.
18. Performs other duties, related to the position, as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

SALARY: Salary grades consist of nine steps. A new employee is normally placed on Step 1 of the grade. Changes in step placement take place on the first day of the first month following the anniversary date of attaining permanent classified employee status until the maximum of the grade is reached.

HOLIDAYS: There are 13 holidays observed each year. For employees who work more than four hours, but less than eight hours, they shall receive pro-rata pay for holidays.

VACATION: Employees are granted 12 days of vacation per year through the first five years of service to the District; 15 days after completion of five continuous years of service to the District; 20 days after completion of ten continuous years of service to the District; and 22 days after completion of 15 continuous years of service to the District. This computation is based on full-time, twelve-month employment. A pro-rata reduction will be made for employees working less than full-time and less than twelve months.

SICK LEAVE: One day of sick leave for each month of service is granted. This is based on full-time, twelve-month
employment. A pro-rata reduction will be made for employees working less than full-time and less than twelve
months. There is no limit to the number of days of sick leave which may be accrued.

FRINGE BENEFITS: The District provides a health and welfare benefit package for employees and legal qualifying dependents. Those employees working less than full-time and less than twelve months will receive a pro-rata share of the benefit package. The dollar value of the package is a subject of negotiation between the District and the Bargaining Unit.

The work location and assignment within a job classification is determined by the District and may be subject to change.
