Royal Caribbean Group’s Safety, Security & Environment has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Investigator  reporting to the Investigations Manager

Position Summary:

The Global Security Investigator position is an entry-level position that ensures the safety and security of Royal Caribbean Group guests, employees, contractors, visitors, ships, capital equipment, real property, and reputation via shipboard security and safety incident response coordination.  In addition, the Investigator is responsible for supporting the Senior Investigators with complex investigations and responses through analytical and administrative support.  The Investigator will assist the Investigations Team as directed by the Manager.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in collaboration with the Senior Investigators and/or independently in planning and conducting corporate and shipboard investigations as required.
  • Coordinates successful shipboard incident response through sound decision making, effective communication and guidance. 
  • Ensures the timely documentation and law enforcement reporting of shipboard crime allegations in support of company policy and the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act (CVSSA).  
  • Working through the Manager, Global Security Investigations, coordinates with local, state and federal authorities on matters relating to fraudulent or other illegal activities.
  • Assists the Senior Investigators in preparing for court and administrative hearings on investigative results when needed.
  • Participate in the development of handbooks, training manuals and related material covering a variety of communication systems and technical investigative programs.
  • In addition to the normal work schedule Monday – Thursday 9am - 5pm, the position may require 12 hours on call duty as needed.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong writing and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to effectively and diplomatically communicate decisions and guidance.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Exhibit mature, responsible decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Maintain strict confidence in sensitive and confidential matters. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management
  • Self-driven to continually improve and actively works to bridge gaps in their knowledge in order to add more value to a particular project or setting.
  • Innovative and process driven induvial who thrives in a start-up atmosphere rather than maintaining an already built system
  • Capable of working independently, with tenured Investigators and within a team.  Regardless of setting, must be self-driven and passionate.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to write reports, with the appropriate attention to details.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Completion of Associates Degree or equivalent number of credit hours from a University.
  • At least 5 years of investigative experience with a law enforcement organization.
  • Understanding of crime statistical driven investigations.
  • Experience in maritime investigations preferred
  • Proven track record of effectively coordinating resources for investigative teams with the ability to professionally communicate the findings orally and in writing.
  • Willing to work flexible hours in an office environment during normal business hours, 5 days a week, holidays and weekends.
