Flex Tech High School is currently hiring for a  Long-Term Substitute  High School Art Teacher   beginning in August 2025.

FlexTech High School is located in Brighton, MI and serves the greater Livingston County area, which is a blend of urban, suburban and rural communities. As a 9-12 high school, FlexTech offers flexible scheduling to accommodate learning outside the walls of the school through internships, college dual-enrollment and various community projects. Students find themselves challenged and inspired by the progressive, competency-based and project-based learning model that is at the core of our instructional program.

FlexTech embraces the Small Schools Initiative, serving approximately 300 students who work closely with a teacher-advisor to monitor their progress and to tailor their school experience to meet their individual needs and interests.

Teachers and students spend their day in an open environment that was specifically designed to mirror the contemporary work world where students are expected to manage their time and build independent and collaborative work skills. Although teachers do some typical classroom instruction, they spend a lot of their time one-on-one or in small groups guiding student work and projects.

Job Summary :

FlexTech High School is seeking an innovative and passionate Long-Term Substitute Art Teacher. This position involves teaching a variety of art classes from Intro to Art through Studio Art. Smaller class sizes and longer block classes within our schedule are ideal for PAVA (Performing Arts/Visual Arts) teachers within our Project Based Learning framework at FlexTech High School. We have an amazing Art Studio for this valuable and enriching course offering for our high school students!

Responsibilities :

• Deliver engaging, standards aligned art instruction with a focus on project-based learning using our grade level competencies.
• Develop or adapt existing PBL units to fit classroom needs.
• Create a dynamic, inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff and administrators.
• Assess student learning through a variety of methods including presentations and performance-based tasks.
• Communicate regularly with students, families and colleagues.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Art or Education.
• Valid teaching credential or substitute permit.
• Experience with project-based learning or inquiry-based instruction preferred.
• Strong communication skills and collaboration skills.
• Passion for the arts and a commitment to fostering a positive, engaging learning environment.

Compensation :

To be determined based on experience and flexibility for the start date. The start date for this position is August 23, 2025.
