Morning Traffic Anchor WINK News, Southwest Florida’s news leader, is seeking an exceptional journalist to join our team as the Morning Traffic Anchor. As the most-watched station in the SWFL, WINK News sets the standard for local news excellence, innovation, and service to our community.
Position Overview: This is a high-profile, highly visible role that requires a dynamic and engaging storyteller to lead traffic coverage on our flagship morning newscasts. The ideal candidate will be the trusted voice viewers rely on to navigate their mornings, delivering accurate, timely, and impactful traffic reports across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
Key Responsibilities: - Traffic Coverage: Deliver live, accurate traffic updates during WINK’s morning newscasts, covering road conditions, accidents, construction, and commuter impacts.
- Storytelling: Use compelling visuals and a conversational delivery style to help viewers understand the impact of traffic on their daily lives.
- Multi-Platform Reporting: Collaborate with the digital team to provide real-time updates on WINK’s website, app, social media platforms and radio ensuring viewers stay informed wherever they are.
- Breaking News: Be a critical part of the breaking news team, providing immediate, clear, and actionable information to help viewers navigate urgent situations.
- Community Engagement: Represent WINK News at community events, building strong connections with viewers and stakeholders.
Qualifications: - At least 3 years of on-air reporting or anchoring experience.
- Strong understanding of Southwest Florida’s roadways and traffic patterns (or the ability to quickly learn).
- Exceptional communication and ad-libbing skills.
- Proficiency with traffic mapping systems and newsroom technology.
- Ability to work early mornings and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Team player with a passion for journalism and a commitment to serving the community.
