Job Description

DNI is seeking a highly skilled Network Infrastructure Specialist with a strong background in network management, infrastructure support, and network design to support the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) Network Management branch. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability, security, and modernization of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) network systems and services.

You’ll be responsible for supporting and managing the FAA's extensive network infrastructure—including LANs, WANs, wireless systems, and cloud integrations—to maintain optimal connectivity across FAA systems, including FAA Cloud Services (FCS), Colocation Facilities, and FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS)

Requirements

• Network Infrastructure Support:
  Maintain and support network hardware including switches, routers, wireless controllers, and access points. Manage hardware lifecycle, troubleshoot issues, and resolve outages across FAA locations.
• Wireless Infrastructure Maintenance:
  Oversee wireless infrastructure operations, performing maintenance, replacements, and incident resolution to ensure continuous wireless connectivity.
• VOIP Support:
  Manage and support Voice Over IP (VOIP) infrastructure to provide reliable and high-quality communication services.
• Network Security & Compliance:
  Coordinate with FAA security teams on certification, accreditation, and patch management to maintain security compliance and network integrity.
• IPv6 Implementation:
  Lead initiatives to implement IPv6 across FAA networks in compliance with federal standards and evolving protocols.
• Standards & Documentation:
  Establish and enforce FAA network standards. Create and maintain thorough documentation for network configurations, updates, and procedures.
• Network Assessment & Design:
  Conduct network assessments and provide actionable insights. Design and implement optimized network solutions to meet FAA performance and reliability requirements.
• Solution Implementation:
  Design and deploy network solutions including facility cabling, site surveys, and hardware installations in line with FAA change management and configuration protocols.
• Cabling Oversight:
  Supervise Ethernet and Fiber optic cabling installation and maintenance, including terminations, testing, repairs, and upgrades.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Systems, Management Information Systems, IT Management, or a related IT field.
• Degrees in engineering, mathematics, or science are acceptable alternatives.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in network support, management, or infrastructure design.

Certifications (Highly Preferred):

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent industry certification.
