MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

The completion of one (1) year of enrollment in an SAF (Society of American Foresters) accredited curriculum program from an accredited college or university.

 

Requires a valid driver license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Occasional to moderate travel required.

 

Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed.

 

NOTES:

 

This flexible position runs during the summer semesters at Florida colleges and other universities, with a maximum work week of 40 hours and a minimum of 20 hours per week.

JOB DUTIES:

 

This position will experience a broad array of activities working on state lands and with private forest landowners and communities.

 

Activities may vary by state forest locations:

  • Timber Inventory
  • Harvest Inspections
  • Site prep and survival checks
  • Rx burn evaluations.
  • updating geodatabases
  • trail development/ maintenance
  • recreation counts
  • rare plant surveys
  • treating invasive species
  • private landowner assistance
  • outreach programs
  • Champion Tree measurements,
  • Silviculture Best Management Practice Assistance
  • Southern Pine Beetle monitoring
  • Threatened and endangered species management
  • urban forestry assistance
