About Indiana Department of Environmental Management:
Our mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental activities vital to a prosperous economy. We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.
Role Overview :
The main responsibility of this position is reviewing QA documents written by program area technical staff. This position helps to ensure that data requirements process, certifications, and other required information meets US EPA standards. Must have excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills. Will consider recent college graduates for this position.
The Recycling and Reporting staff provides technical support for planning, quality system improvement, and the investment of state and federal dollars in Indiana's economy. The position is responsible for interfacing with US EPA Region 5 Quality Assurance staff to maintain documentation of the IDEM quality system in a US EPA approved Quality Management Plan (QMP) and related documents; maintaining a rapport with US EPA QA staff regarding federal QA requirements IDEM is expected to meet; and keeping agency management and staff apprised of those requirements; assisting agency staff with meeting US EPA QA requirements; and providing program management assistance with meeting US EPA quality system requirements by helping to develop and/or review draft program area QA documents, and approve or assist with US EPA approval of those documents. This position will also act as the project manager for the terms and conditions specified within the GLRI QA Capacity Grant including, serving as the EPA-delegated approving authority for any QA-related documents required for grants received and implemented by the IDEM NWRO and preparing biannual progress reports.
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
