Job Description

The Pishesha Lab leverages nanobodies-single-chain proteins derived from camelid immunoglobulins-for cutting-edge research in immunotherapy, immune modulation, and imaging. We engineer nanobodies to boost immune responses for vaccines and cancer therapies and to suppress immune activity in autoimmune disease treatments. Our research spans preclinical mouse models and patient-derived samples, and we collaborate extensively within Boston Children?s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and globally.

We are seeking a responsible, detail-oriented Research Assistant I to join our dynamic team. The candidate will work closely with senior researchers on innovative nanobody-based immunotherapy projects. Ideal applicants are keen learners with excellent communication skills, a strong ability to adapt to new technologies, and a collaborative mindset. This role offers robust training, opportunities for co-authorship, and valuable experience for careers in science, medicine, or biotechnology. The Pishesha Lab emphasizes mentorship and fosters an impactful, supportive research environment.

This Research Assistant I will be responsible for:
  • Culturing mammalian cells using sterile techniques.
  • Cellular analysis including flow cytometry, DNA / RNA isolation, PCR, western blot, and other molecular biology techniques.
  • Learning and performing protein production and purification, biochemical conjugation, and in vivo mouse model assays.
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed, and up-to-date records regarding all procedures performed and results obtained; identifying and documenting variations that may affect the validity of the experiment.
  • Data collection and analysis. Performing quality control, monitoring data for accuracy, and discussing results within agreed-upon timelines with supervisor and/or mentor.
  • Ordering and stocking laboratory supplies and general laboratory maintenance.
  • Providing technical research support to other laboratory members including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other professional staff.
  • Attend weekly lab meetings and participate in internal meetings to share results and plan experiments.
  • Operating instruments such as flow cytometers, cell sorters, and microscopes.
  • Complying with safe laboratory practices following institutional research guidelines.
In order to qualify, you must have:
  • Bachelor?s degree in biology or other STEM-related disciplines; MA or MS in these areas will also be considered.
  • Wet laboratory research experience (immunology or biochemistry preferred but not required).
  • Proficiency with molecular biology laboratory techniques and willingness to work with human samples.
  • Strong organizational, management, and communication skills, and an ability to recognize and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Advanced computer skills, including the ability to develop technical documents and presentations.
  • High level of initiative and motivation; ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Willingness to make a two-year commitment to the position.
Boston Children?s Hospital offers competitive compensation and unmatched benefits including flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, cell phone plan discounts and discounted rates on T-passes.
