The Staff Services Manager (SSM) II oversees the Eligibility Clearance Program (ECP) and performs at the full supervisory level. The SSM II will plan, organize, direct, and administer the work of managerial and professional staff that are responsible for conducting background checks to determine a person’s eligibility to own or possess firearms or ammunition . The ECP is comprised of two Eligibility Clearance Units, which are managed by two SSM I.
The SSM II reviews and evaluates work flow and quality of work ; ensures legislatively-mandated processing time lines are met; establishes and maintains project priorities; monitors and exercises control over assigned resources/projects in accordance with Division of Law Enforcement/Bureau policies and procedures; and manages and makes decisions or recommendations to Bureau-level management. The SSM II implements new programs or procedures, manages projects, allocates resources and handles the most difficult, complex, and sensitive program responsibilities . These functions are critical to the Bureau’s and Department’s mission.
