TEAM LEAD: MEDICAL ASSISTANT

The primary purpose of the Team Lead MA is to coordinate patient care for their assigned physician. This can include patient scheduling, supervision of supplies/inventory, training, and providing direct feedback to the Lead Medical Assistant to improve the provider’s flow. This role will report to the Lead Medical Assistant.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Lead Responsibilities

· Support healthcare providers and department leads to coordinate patient care activities and ensure a seamless patient experience.

o Responsible for ensuring effective clinic opening.

o Responsible for seamless patient flow during clinic and/or procedures.

o Responsible for ensuring all supplies and equipment are available and ready for day-to-day operations.

o Responsible for taking a proactive approach to learn from successes/failures and discuss with the provider to ensure continuous quality improvement.

· Monitor workflow, patient schedules, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency.

· Conduct regular audits of patient records, documentation, and adherence to established provider specific procedures.

· Collaborate with department leads and other Team Leads to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

· Provide mentorship, guidance, and ongoing training of new hires to the Provider’s team and/or as assigned by the Lead MA.

· Monitor and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, standards, and protocols.

Medical Assisting Skills

· Assist Physicians, Mid-Level Practitioners, and Registered Nurses with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients in an ambulatory care setting.

· Responsible for maintaining patient flow, the upkeep of exam and treatment rooms, and performing basic skills such as vital signs and point of care testing.

· Administer intramuscular injections, immunizations, and over-the-counter medications under the direction of a Physician.

· The Medical Assistant must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· High School diploma or GED equivalent

· Current CPR Certification required

· Managerial experience required

· Minimum of ten years clinical experience required

· Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced environment

· Previous surgical in-office experience required

· Previous ENT practice experience preferred

· Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position supervises the MA team.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Current Medical Assistant Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT preferred
