Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Virtual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. Reporting directly to the Principal, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' speech, language, and communication skills while working from the comfort of your home. As a Virtual SLP, you will collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create personalized therapy plans that meet the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess Student Needs: Conduct thorough virtual evaluations to identify speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in students, ensuring comprehensive understanding of their needs.
Develop Individualized Treatment Plans: Design and implement customized Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with teachers and families, focused on helping students meet their full potential.
Provide Teletherapy Services: Offer speech-language therapy sessions through virtual platforms, maintaining student engagement, providing feedback, and closely monitoring progress.
Monitor and Document Progress: Keep detailed records of student attendance, progress, and performance. Regularly communicate updates to parents, teachers, and administrators, ensuring transparency and continued support.
Collaborate with School Staff: Work closely with teachers, special education teams, and administrators to align therapy goals with classroom activities and overall student development.
Consult with Parents and Caregivers: Provide guidance to families on strategies to support their child's speech and language development at home, fostering an open line of communication.
Adhere to Legal and Ethical Guidelines: Follow all relevant state and federal regulations, including IDEA and HIPAA, and uphold the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) code of ethics to ensure compliance in all aspects of your work.
Utilize Technology Effectively: Manage and troubleshoot teletherapy tools and platforms, ensuring smooth, secure, and efficient service delivery, while maintaining data privacy.
Engage in Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research, best practices, and technology in speech-language pathology through ongoing professional development, ensuring the best possible outcomes for students.
Support Diverse Needs: Adapt therapy methods to accommodate the diverse cultural, linguistic, and developmental backgrounds of students, providing equitable support for all.
Qualifications:
Required Certifications: CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology) through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Tennessee State Certification: Must hold a valid Tennessee Speech-Pathology certification.
Education: A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Tech Requirements: A laptop or desktop computer, webcam, headset, and reliable internet connection are required.
Experience: Prior experience in online education or teletherapy is preferred but not mandatory.
